April 2, 2011 Opening Prayer
Lord I thank you for this wonderful day.
I thank you for the rains you brought us during the week,
But also for the clearing of the skis so that we can enjoy time with our families, horses, and most of all You.
Dearest Creator in Heaven,
Give me strength to guide my horse.
Make my hands be soft and my head clear.
Let my horse understand me and I understand him.
Lord please grant me patience,
Let me not frighten or harm them.
Instead show me ways to better understand their and your glory.
I ask for your protection of me, my horse, my friends, and my fellow competitors today.
Please remind me that today is not about winning but about doing the best I can.
Lord I know that as long as I have tried and use all the talent you have blessed me with,
Then I have already won in your eyes.
Lord I thank you for my love of my parents and family,
For the strength and patience of my trainer,
And for the unconditional love of my horse whose only goal is to do as I ask.
Lord guide me around the course,
Allow me to learn from the experiences of being here today,
And enable me to do my best.
I give you thanks for all that you have done,
And ask all this in your holy name, Jesus Christ.
