Hunters to be judged on performance, soundness, way of going with manners and suitability emphasized. Extreme speed will be penalized.
Lead Line Division: Open to riders 10 years and under, side walkers are also permitted.
Walk Division: Rider may NOT cross enter in any cantering classes. No assistance allowed in the ring.
Walk Trot Division: Rider may NOT cross enter in any cantering classes. Hunter Hack will do the flat portion of the class first, riders will line up in the ring and complete one line of poles one at a time. Poles will account for 25% of rider’s score. Class Split by age; 10 and under and 11 and over
Young Horse Division: Open to any horse NOT showing at a canter or over fences. Open to any rider.
Beginner Rider Division: Open to any rider in their first or second year of showing. Rider has choice of trotting or cantering the jumps. Flat class will be walk trot canter. Class Split by age; 10 and under and 11 and over.
Baby Green Division: Open to any horse or pony in their first or second year of showing. Rider has the choice of trotting or cantering the jumps. Flat class will be walk trot canter.
Schooling Hunter Division: Open to any horse or rider.
Novice Horse Division: Open to any horse not showing over 2’.
Novice Rider Division: Open to any rider not showing over 2’.
Modified Hunter Derby: Open to any Rider competing over 2’, the top six entries from class 21 will return for class 21a. Scores from class 21 will only determine the order of go for class 21a and will not determine final placings. In the event of a tie, entries will be asked to complete a shortened round for a jump off. Hunter Classic course may consist of an in and out, bending lines, or a line with an unrelated distance. Handy Hunter course may consist of a trot jump, lead over a jump, in and out, or walk a jump. Horses are judged on hunter style, quality, movement and brilliance. The Hunter Derby's goal is to bring back basic principles of riding into the show hunter by challenging horses and riders. Paybacks for Hunter Derby 1st - $45, 2nd - $35, 3rd - $20, 4th - $10; paybacks are only awarded if more then 6 entries.
Low Hunter Division: Open to any horse and rider combination unless restriction previously noted.
Modified Hunter: Open to any horse and rider combination unless restriction previously noted.
Modified Working Hunter: Open to any horse and rider combination unless restriction previously noted.
Open Hunter: Open to any horse and rider combination unless restriction previously noted.
Jumper Classes: Jumper classes will follow the USEF Rules for Table II Section 2(b)
Table II, Sec. 2 (b)—The first round and first jump-off are decided by adding together the faults incurred over the course and any penalties for exceeding the Time Allowed. If a competitor has gone clean in the first round, the competitor will, without leaving the ring, upon an audible signal, commence the designated jump-off course. The competitor has 45 seconds from audible signal to jump the first jump. A competitor who leaves the arena after a clear round (before or after the tone) will be considered to have retired from the jump-off. If there are no clean rounds and a tie exists for first place, there will be one jump-off in which time will decide in the event of equality of faults.
Show Management reserves the right to dismiss any rider/trainer/groom for what it deems abuse. The following is a list of some but not all dismissible offenses.
a. Riding an exhausted horse.
b. Excessive pressuring of a tired horse.
c. Riding or lunging an obviously lame horse.
d. Excessive use of a whip on any horse in a stall, aisle, schooling area, competition
ring or elsewhere on the competition grounds.
e. Any striking of the horse’s head (on the poll or forward of the poll shall be deemed
excessive.
f. Repeated jerking on the reins and sawing on the bit unless applied to an unruly
horse that is jeopardizing his own safety or the safety of his rider.
g. Improper use of the bit resulting in bleeding, broken skin or broken mucous membrane.
h. Excessive use of the spurs or spurring resulting in broken and bleeding skin.
q. Withholding of feed or water for prolonged periods.
s. Inhumane treatment of a horse in a stall, aisle, schooling area, competition ring or
elsewhere on the competition grounds, by any person
